Widely known as the Stearman, Boeing Stearman, or Kaydet, the Boeing Stearman Model 75 is a conventional biplane that was used throughout World War Two as a primary trainer. There are a number of Stearman that operate regularly out of Ardmore including this particular machine which was built in 1942 as a PT-13D (Model 75). It was used by the United States Army Air Force in the Philippines until 1946 when it was donated to the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
In 1982, it was imported into NZ and currently belongs to a syndicate who operate it regularly for adventure flights.
