Volunteering

Volunteering is the easiest way to get involved!

We are always looking for new volunteers. They are the life blood of our organisation and critical to the development of NZ Warbirds at Ardmore and our ongoing activities and projects. You do not need aviation experience! Most of our volunteers are family orientated individuals who enjoy being associated and socialising with other flying and aircraft enthusiasts.

Opportunities as a Volunteer

Get involved with our aircraft and engine restoration projects
Hosting visitors and looking after our NZ Warbirds at Ardmore collection and shop
Help organise our open days and events
Maintain and develop our hangars and exhibits
Help with regular working bees, special projects and social events

Lovely cafe with a great view of all the planes taking off. The museum guides are super friendly and my son absolutely loves coming here. Highly recommended.

Fantastic opportunity to get up close to some of the icons of New Zealand’s aviation history - with the majority being flyable examples. Knowable guides to fill in any gaps in your own knowledge. Topped off by an amazing scale model collection.

Interesting guided visit around the War Birds Facility, get up close to the war planes. Beautiful display. Would suggest combine with a visit to the Auckland Botanical Gardens. A Great Auckland Day Out.

ZK-TGN ‘rolling 21’ back in December 2020 during its first public display at Warbirds on Parade.  This aircraft now resides at the Ashburton Aviation Museum but for a number of years resided at NZ Warbirds at Ardmore.
It has been modified to have a 14-cylinder Pratt & Whitney R2000 rated at 1450 HP (not the 9-cylinder Wright R-1820 Cyclone typical for the type).

On show was a range of static aircraft with air displays from the Yak-52 formation team, the Roaring Forties and RNZAF Black Falcons. Thank you to photographer Paul who sent these through. Good news for NZ warbird enthusiasts with the confirmation that the FG-1D Corsair ZK-COR took to the skies yesterday after a 6 year hiatus in storage.

Newly rated Corsair pilot Frank Parker took this picture yesterday of his view flying the historic fighter to Omaka from Hood Aerodrome.

We can’t wait to see this aircraft performing at airshows again! It’s been long over due.
