The NZ Warbirds Association has been donated a number of incredible heritage and classic aircraft which are maintained in flying condition in line with our ethos to Keep ‘Em Flying.
These aircraft are operated by flying groups which are open to suitably qualified NZ Warbirds Association full financial members to join.
Currently there are two established groups, the Yak Flying Group (YFG) which operates a Yak-52 and a Tail Wheel Group (TWG) which operates two aircraft; Ryan PT-22 and Ryan STM.
The flying groups are organised and administrated along similar lines of existing aircraft syndicates. There is a group joining fee, monthly contribution, and hourly flying rate to cover the aircraft costs. You can join either one or both groups depending on your aviation qualifications.
Both flying groups are a unique opportunity for members to be associated with these significant heritage aircraft and a path into the bigger Warbird aircraft if that is what you are aiming for.
Please note: You must be a full financial member of NZ Warbirds Association to join the Warbirds Aircraft Flying Groups and there are some minimum hour and type requirements to be met. There is no initial tail dragger/ab-initio training available on these aircraft due to their age and heritage value, you must have the minimum requirements to fly them, as laid down by our insurance requirements.
